Boat Care Privacy Policy

Your Data Stays Yours

Boat Care is designed with privacy first. Your boats, engines, fuel logs, service records, parts, checklists, contacts, and photos are stored locally on your device and sync across your devices through your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to any of your boat data.

What We Don't Collect

• No personal information (name, email, phone number)
• No account creation or login
• No server-side storage of your boat data
• No browsing history
• No advertising identifiers
• No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs

iCloud Sync

Your boat data syncs across your iPhone and iPad using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We cannot access your iCloud data.

Device Permissions

Boat Care asks for certain device permissions only when you use specific optional features. All permissions can be denied, revoked, or changed in iOS Settings at any time.

• Location — used when you tap the "Use My Location" option on a fuel entry to record where you filled up. Coordinates are stored locally with that entry and never sent to us.
• Camera — used when you take a photo of a boat, part, receipt, or barcode. Photos are stored locally on the device and in your iCloud account.
• Photo Library — used when you pick an existing photo to attach to a boat, part, or product.
• NFC — used when you scan or write an NFC tag to identify a part in your inventory. NFC data is stored locally and tied only to the part record.
• Notifications — used to remind you about hour- or time-based maintenance you have scheduled. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device.

Hull Identification Number (HIN) Decoder

When you use the HIN decoder, decoding is performed locally using an offline manufacturer database. If the HIN is not recognized locally, Boat Care may open a public USCG vessel lookup page in Safari so you can review the results. We do not log, store, or transmit your HIN to any server we control.

Home Port Map

The home port map uses Apple Maps to display the location you choose. Your chosen coordinates are stored locally on the device. The map component is provided by Apple and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

In-App Purchases

Any purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by deleting the app or by removing individual boats, entries, parts, and checklists in the app. Since we do not store your data on our servers, there is nothing additional to delete on our end.

Children's Privacy

Boat Care is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
